Eva Carvalho’s Game Winner Earns Bayport JV 10-9 Win Over St. Anthony’s 2027


In a gripping junior varsity lacrosse match, Bayport Blue Point edged out St. Anthony’s with a nail-biting 10-9 victory. Both teams came into the game with a 1-0 record, setting the stage for a highly competitive encounter.

The first half was characterized by intense play from both sides. St. Anthony’s had a slim a 2-0 lead just over nine minutes into the game, however Bayport responded with equal tenacity, keeping the scoreline close, in what was a defensive first half with the score 2-2 at halftime.

The second half saw the theme of this game do a 180 degree turn as both teams picked up the offense, exchanging leads in a thrilling display between public vs private school young guns. Olivia Brady the freshman phenom from Bayport Blue Point was a standout player, scoring a whopping six goals in the game.

St. Anthony’s displayed impressive teamwork, as they saw a number of players step up in a big game. Keira Steck delivered her second consecutive hat-trick, while Chloe Mullady also had three points with two goals and one assist. The Friars midfield unit of Beau Davi, Liliana May, and Melania Moreo showed what the St. Anthony’s program has to look forward to in the coming years between the three ground balls each from Davi and Moreo, and May going 2/2 at the draw circle along with a clutch goal.

The game reached its climax in the final minutes, with Bayport Blue Point securing the winning goal with 16 seconds remaining scored by Eva Carvalhowhich was her second of the game. The match ended with a 10-9 scoreline, marking a hard earned victory for Bayport Blue Point in a closely contested game. Throughout the second half, one of the biggest deciding factors in the win were timely saves by their second half goalie in freshman Peyton D’Angelo who had five saves with a 62% save percentage.

Next up for Bayport JV will be a matchup at 5:00pm this Thursday against YJ Friedman, while St. Anthony’s 2027 has a double-header that evening against YJ Duswalt at 6:30 followed by Ward Melville JV at 7:15.
