Stangs Improve to 2-0 with 9-5 Victory Against Syosset

Getting the evening started in the Boys HSWL was a very physical match, between the Stangs and Syosset where it was Mt. Sinai emerging victorious with a 9-5 win over the Braves. Syosset was able to jump out to a 2-0 lead in the first half, before the Stangs went on a 4-1 scoring run to take the lead into halftime and they never looked back. The win for Mt. Sinai saw them improve their league standing to 2-0.

The game was highlighted by Michigan commit Lucas Laforge’s stellar performance, netting five goals for the Stangs. Adelphi Brett Oppenheim also made contributions with a goal and an assist. At the face-off X the Stangs saw an admirable performance from the young gun Tommy Massaro, and in the net it was Matthew Taylor who had a 50% save percentage on the evening.

Despite the loss, Syosset, now at 0-2, saw a commendable effort from David Disque the Hopkins commit, who scored three goals with an assist, and two ground balls and two caused turnovers. Syosset split their goalie duties between Joshua Weisenfeld and Max Glambosky who each recorded three saves.

Coming up this Sunday, Syosset has an afternoon matchup at 4:45 against Wantagh, while the Stangs have an evening matchup at 6:15 against Huntington where they will look to move to 3-0 in pool play.
