Westhampton Triumphs Over SA 2026 in Sunday Showdown

In a match featuring public school vs parochial at the Stony Brook University Indoor Complex, Westhampton displayed their talents, securing a significant victory over SA 2026. The game began with Westhampton taking an early lead, scoring seven goals in the first half, while SA 2026 scored three. Westhampton maintained their strong performance in the second half, adding seven more goals. SA 2026 put up a spirited fight, scoring four additional goals, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Westhampton’s lead, resulting in a final score of 14-7.

Key players for Westhampton included Hofstra commit Meaghan Tufano, who scored a game-high four goals, and Peyton Worby the Wagner commit, contributing two goals and two assists. Ava Derby also made a notable impact with a hat-trick. In goal, Westhampton’s Penn commit Maya Farnan and Sullivan Norton both showcased their skills, each saving three and four shots at a 50% rate, respectively.

SA 2026 saw a strong performance from Katherine Rathjen the Fairfield commit, who scored three goals to lead the team. On the draw circle for the Friars, Noelle Meenan was 66% going 4/6 in the game.

This victory was significant for Westhampton, improving their record to 3-0 to conclude pool play. The Friars wrap up pool play with an 0-3 record, as each team has a clean slate going into the playoffs in January. Westhampton enters the playoffs with a January 3rd matchup against Sacred Heart at 9:30pm. St. Anthony’s first playoff opponent will be Comsewogue on Sunday January 7th at 1:45pm.
