Five Class of 2027 Goalies to Spotlight

Ellis Joshua · September 19, 2025 · 3 min read

It wasn’t an easy summer for the offensive players looking to score goals. The goaltenders in the 2027 class were flat out just that good. With the official “Contact Day” behind us, college coaches are now in the hunt seeking their next great netminder. Let’s talk about which players this summer really proved that they could be an asset at the collegiate level:

Matt Kammer – Cold Spring Harbor HS/Shore 2 Shore

After all he’s already accomplished, it’s crazy to think Kammer still has two whole varsity seasons to play in his career before he transitions to the college level. The rising junior hasn’t slowed down since winning the state title as a freshman, as he dominated the tournament fields this summer with his quick instincts and sound IQ in the cage. Kammer acts as the colonel of his defense, and he’s a strong one at that. His ball-stopping skills paired with his leadership ability should be what every college coach is looking for.

Jason Biondi – Ward Melville HS/Rebels United

Biondi caught a lot of attention this summer for his ability to track down shots, no matter the velocity behind it. He faced numerous laser beams from the perimeter and would just gobble them up, repeatedly. The rising junior turned aside scoring chances from all over on the defensive end, even second and third chance opportunities where he was barely in the net. His natural athleticism will bode well for him at the next level.

Jake Collins – Chaminade HS/Express

Collins just might be one of the most agile goalkeepers in the entire 2027 class. His fast reflexes, both with his feet and with his hands, gave opposing scorers fits all summer long. The rising junior has a clear knack for anticipating where shots are going, even when he’s facing them on the doorstep. He’s a player that rides his momentum in between the pipes and will take a game over if you let him.

Colin McGay – Harborfields HS/Legacy

McGay was one of the more confident goalies on the recruiting trail this cycle. He profiles as an extremely fundamentally sound player in the net who maintains his strong base and really challenges opposing shooters to find an open area. But the thing with McGay is, there really aren’t many open areas to sneak a ball past him. His hand speed covers most of what his goalie stance doesn’t already, making him a nightmare to go up against as an offensive player.

Vinny Ciro – Mepham HS/Team 91 Rage

Ciro stood on his head playing for 91 Rage this summer. The goaltender has a unique reactive ability and he showed off his elusiveness in the cage on multiple occasions. The flow of the game never seems to be too fast for him in there, and it’s a testament to the high level that he is accustomed to playing at. Ciro’s skill and intuition for the game will make him an attractive recruit in his class.
