Electric Lefties, FUN 2026 ATTACKERS TO COVER ON THE ISLAND

Ellis Joshua · October 1, 2025 · 3 min read

Long Island has long been home to some of the nation’s most dynamic scorers, and the senior class of 2026 is no exception. This group of attackers is redefining what it means to be a threat on the offensive end—whether it’s an elite first step, deceptive dodges, lethal finishes, or versatile all-around play. From Florida and Stony Brook commits to Georgetown, Michigan, and Duke-bound stars, these athletes have already made their mark and are poised for unforgettable senior campaigns. Each brings a unique style and skill set that makes them nearly impossible to defend, and together, they represent the standard of elite attacking talent on Long Island. Read below as we highlight some of our favorite lefty attackers to cover on the island.

  • Emma Speed, 2026, Lefty, St. Anthony’s, Florida Commit, Sports Recruits https://iwlca.sportsrecruits.com/athlete/emma_speed5 – Speed is one of the best lacrosse players from the island. Emma is humble, hungry and always growing as a player. Her speed is just one of her superpowers. Emma has instincts to attack gaps, amazing awareness of when to shoot vs. feed, and has a tremendous first step. You can build a clinic around Emma’s ability to read a defense. Her Senior campaign will be one to remember as her development has only trended upward over the last few years.
  • Emma DiMaio, 2026, Lefty, William Floyd, Stony Brook Commit, Sports Recruits https://iwlca.sportsrecruits.com/athlete/emma_dimaio – DiMaio is a tough cover. Her sneaky, yet lively off-ball play combined with her crafty dodges makes her one of the best lefties on the island. It’s so cool to see Emma controlling defenders around the 8 with her library of moves.  A nice balance of dodge to score and dodge to shoot makes her a menace on the offensive end.
  • Sophia Masone, 2026, Mt. Sinai, Georgetown Commit, Sports Recruits https://iwlca.sportsrecruits.com/athlete/sophia_masone – Masone is one of the most lethal finishers on the island. An absolute zone breaker, sole taker, elite faker, Masone makes scoring goals easy. Love watching this kid handle everything, handle pressure and finish the rock.
  • 〽️Julie Shaughnessy, 2026, Lefty, Syosset, Michigan Commit, Sports Recruits https://iwlca.sportsrecruits.com/athlete/julie_shaughnessy2 If you’re talking top dodgers on the island, Shaughnessy has to be in the mix. A rare combination of elite change of direction, and deceptive finishes, Julie has accumulated a library of goals over her impressive career. With a developing right hand, Julie gets defenders guessing when attacking from X. As Shaughnessy rounds out her game and becomes more of a facilitator vs. purely a goal scorer, she could mount quite the impressive career at the next level.

  • Harper Lambert, 2026, Lefty, Manhasset, Duke Commit, Sports Recruits https://iwlca.sportsrecruits.com/athlete/harper_lambert We hesitate to call Lambert an attacker, but if it’s an excuse to write about her in this article, we’ll go with it. Lambert is an elite athlete who does it all. Draws, GBs, defends. Asides from the intangibles, she has tremendous game too. Lambert plays with a savvy-slickness that makes her a very difficult cover. She can score from some scary angles. She’s a frustrating cover because of her versatility, two-handed ness, length and skill. Glad we get another year to cover this stud.
  • Sky Kilfeather, 2026, Lefty, Long Beach, Florida State Commit, Sports Recruits – https://iwlca.sportsrecruits.com/athlete/skylar_kilfeather Kily plays with a fire that ignites any offense. Sky has the ability to break zones, score off-ball, and get to the goal. Her feel for the game is elite.
